Speak, Friend, and Enter - Our Boy is Eight!

Q-ster is eight years old today!  I guess I might have to stop calling him the little dude.

We had a Hobbit themed birthday party over the weekend.  Speak, friend and enter! (Which is technically from the Fellowship of the Ring, but close enough.)

The goody bags were filled with chocolate gold coins from Smaug the Dragon's treasure, and we tied rings to the ribbon closures.  I know that the ring is a terrible burden in LOTR, but in the Hobbit, it's still a sort of fun magic device.

Anduril, Flame of the West. (Aragorn's sword, by request of the birthday boy.)

We ended up with ten 2nd graders and three 4 year olds running around, screaming at the top of their lungs, shooting little foam squeeze rockets at the dragon targets (and each other.)

They watched part of the 70's children's Hobbit cartoon, but the rockets were too enticing to sit still for long.

We also had one official game, where the kids had to sneak up silently behind SwingDaddy and try to remove the Arkenstone from a bag of noisy treasure.  A few of them were pretty good at it!  The quiet part was also nice.

Happy Birthday, Q-ster!

Happy Birthday to the young gentleman of the house! Love the theme and great gift bags.

The amazing Anduril cake reminded me of your earlier post. When you cut up the cake, did it revert to being Narsil?
