Be Very, Very Frightened

Remember that story that Amalah told about her sons and the Pillow Pets? Jodifur wrote about her child somehow acquiring EIGHT of them, whew.

At Target last week, I ran across this aisle.

Good Lord, that’s a lot of Pillow Pets. As I was readying my phone to take a picture, a family walked by. Both kids immediately went over to the shelves and laid their heads down on ladybug pillows, while the mother snapped, “Oh, stop it!”

One must admit they market these things brilliantly.

My daughter already has 2, but she has asked for another for Christmas! And I'm a sucker...

Yup, we have the unicorn and puppy.

My story is this. All my daughter wanted for her birthday was the damn unicorn. No one was carrying them in stores over the summer. I ordered it online and paid a hefty shipping fee.

Then her aunt showed up a few days before her birthday with the purple unicorn that she too had ordered online.

I tried to stop the shipping, but it was already en route.

Luckily a co-worker's daughter NEEDED the unicorn for their summer vacation so I sold it to her.

I have to say that my daughter uses it every night. My son? Meh.

Now that they are available EVERYWHERE I think they've jumped the shark...or the unicorn.

My child has been asking for one. I have been saying no, and I will continue to.

I have so far avoided Pillow Pet encroachment. But now we have a TV again, and I fear that I will not be able to avoid it much longer.

What a large display, expecting to sell a lot I guess.

I have never even seen the commercial, and yet I can't help singing "it's a pillow, it's a pet!" every time I pass a display.
