With two mobile fragile-item-seekers now in the household, I know that the stress level will be too high to hang tempting arrays of child safety hazards on the tree, so the collection will stay in boxes this year. Aside from a few safe sparklers, there is a new theme – red, white and squishy!
I’ve picked a few items from the Crate and Barrel collection this season, and bought material to sew our own, soft, friendly ornaments. Intentions are good . . . let’s see if I actually get around to making them!

AI am so with you on this one, too! My beautiful glass and crystal red and white tree (peppermint candy cane tree) has slowly morphed from all the fancy things on top and kid friendly things lower down to mostly easily replaced colored balls and trains... the cats don't help in keeping ornaments on the tree... now I hang all the fancy ornaments from my "chandelier" over the dining table.
With my 15-month-old destructo-toddler on the loose, I am definitely forgoing to fancy, fragile ornaments. In honesty, I am even concerned about the whole tree itself. I think ours is going to be up pretty briefly this year, in order to save me weeks of looming disaster.
Those are good ornaments! When my kids were in the destroyer phase, I went the cheap and ugly route. Considering we're still using them, maybe I shouldn't have.
Nice! Love the red-and-white stockings.
I could live in Crate and Barrel...but they've already told me...many times...that unless I decide to pay rent I have to leave...
