Food Should Not Be This Hard

Two random things:

1) I baked a pumpkin pie last weekend (canned pumpkin, so don’t be so impressed), and the recipe said to bake for 40 minutes, but when I checked it, it was still gooshy. A total of 70 minutes went by before it seemed solid. I had to tell our friends that I needed to eat the first bite of the pie I was giving them, to make sure it was safe. They eyed me suspiciously, but it tasted fine and then we shared.

2) Why am I so terrible at picking grapes? Ever if I eat one grape from the bunch to check that it tastes sweet, they’re always sour when I get them home. It’s like an anti-skill or something. I need to start asking random people at the market to pick them for me.

Pumpkin pie and cheesecake always take longer than they say they should, in my experience. I don't know why that is.
