Still Breathing

I've joined the endless ranks of parents who have crept into their children's rooms, leaned over the bassinet, and listened carefully to see if the baby is breathing. Paranoid a little? At least I didn't hold a mirror under his nose (hey naughty people, it's to see if his breath fogs the mirror, not to offer a line of coke).

This is new to me, since Q was such a noisy sleeper that we nicknamed him Darth Baby.

I think I've jinxed myself by writing that and now he's happily making gurgling noises instead of sleeping the way everyone else (read I) would prefer.

You know, I recall thinking, the first times when Pumpkinpie slept for longer stretches, "I canNOT go in there and risk waking her with our creaky floors. If she's dead, she'll still be dead in the morning." Yes, I was getting psychotic from lack of sleep!

In our case, she is sometimes noisy and sometimes, suddenly silent. This was scary but I found that I could usually see some part of her clothing rise and fall slightly with each breath.
