America's Pastime, Kind Of

Q was telling me all about baseball the other day. There are two components you need to play: "The ball. And the whacker."

Well, I suppose that's accurate.

I'm working part-time from home this week, as a way to wean myself away from the various crises at the office, and finding it surprisingly hard to turn off that focus. I really want to power through a few last documents so that I can get a little break before Swimmy arrives. With Q, I sent final transition emails to my team four hours before we headed into the hospital, and while it was certainly efficient, it wasn't exactly restful.

Yes -- that feels like a rip-off, missing out on at least a couple of baby-free, work-free days! Hope you get 'em.

It was good to see you yesterday. You look great! Can't wait to meet Swimmy.

Speaking of sports, I guess the time off before the event is the taper, so I hope you get to enjoy one this time!

Gah! Last time, I took the last three weeks off as vacation, this time I'm looking at two weeks. But then, this time, I should go early instead of a week late, like last time, so there is that.

I like Q's description of baseball!

My daughter once said of football:

You throw the ball, run really fast to try to catch it, and you bump into people.

Yep, pretty accurate!
