Perspective on Labor

I had a doctor's appointment on Friday, and my OB mentioned that she was scheduled to be induced to deliver her sixth child this weekend. "I'm really looking forward to lying down and having my epidural," she said.

I think it's a sign that you're way overworked, if you're looking forward to labor.

P.S. Swimmy obliged with a nice clear heartbeat, so that's going well too.

Not to start a big debate here, but if you're looking forward to a scheduled birth with epidural, you're not exactly looking forward to labour :) I'm not sure what that is, but I think she's thinking more, "Time away from those other 5 when no one can expect me to do anything for anyone but me." Which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Yay Swimmy!

Man, I loved my epidural. It was the best sleep I had in 9 months.

I'd take one today if I could get one.

PS. Yay for swimmy!!

I've occasionally had that feeling about the dentist. Then I know it's time to schedule a massage or something.

Go Swimmy!

I'm with Jenny. I napped while contractions were 1 min apart with my epidural. BUT - it doesn't mean I'd be looking forward to doing that again as relaxation! Instead, I really look forward to hair appointments. Two hours where I can't be expected to do anything but relax and chat and read. Bliss, I tell you. Unfettered bliss.

Looking forward to labor and an epidural ... Now there's a new thought in my head.
