You've Got to be Freaking Kidding

This woman has two children – a one year old and a two year old. And people are ripping her for a "mushy midsection" and being out of shape. I think her body looks fabulous. Her choice of clothing was pretty awful, and by all accounts the performance wasn't great, but I'm sad for Britney Spears.

She was a charismatic and really hard working girl who hit a lucky streak, and now she's got a lot of problems that are too well publicized. I hope you get the help you need, Brit. Get healthy, stable, take care of those kids, and maybe make another hit record.

I think that if you used to have the hottest body in the whole entire world (I mean, her body was pretty intense), and you've had two kids, and it's your first show back, and the world thinks you're crazy? maybe you could cover up just a little more. It's not that she's fat, it's that she's not what she used to be, and in Hollywood/music/entertainment... That's pretty much everything, isn't it?

I'm 100% with you. In the Real World, this woman would be rated as Hot. The outfit is unflattering, but she's actually pretty adorable.

The performance was painful though. The song track was good (no way she was actually singing that), but the performance, which is what the VMAs are all about, was awful.

It was like junior high talent show Britney. She had no idea what to do on that stage, and was clearly terrified to be there.

I couldn't watch the whole thing. It seemed cruel. I too feel very, very sorry for her.

i agree with kimberly - the performance was hideous. jitta and i were kind of appalled, really.

however, i think you're right about her life problems being too publicized. what britney needs to do is become really boring. just stay away from music and try to just do the mom thing for a while and learn to do it well. eventually, the cameras will get tired of filming her doing ordinary, day-to-day parenting stuff and maybe leave her alone.

and THEN she'll be ripe for a comeback. ;)

I think I look at the world with a different pair of glasses than most people, but I didn't think she looked "fat," either. Far from it!

But her performance was so lackluster and tired. I think I'll stick with the -broken heel- theory instead of the -hungover because she partied until 3 AM the night before- theory.

I don't follow a lot of celeb news or care about it, but I have to say people are so mean to them! So your post was refreshing.

I can't fathom a life such as Brit's. I would have lost it long ago. She just needs to get control of her life, especially when it comes to her children.

It's the outfit. There's something in your face about a black sequined bikini that just invites criticism.

I'd do just about anything to have her body.

Um...I mean to have her body instead of mine. Sorry...that sounded creepy.

I am so glad I'm reading this because I was so confused. I thought she looked incredible. I'd love to look as bad as she does now someday. And people can rip me for it, because if I look like her, it's gonna be fishnet stocking and stillettos. Work it, girl!

I'll gladly criticize her awful performance, with the lethargic dance moves and bad lip syncing.

But her body? Hell, I'm in no position to criticize that. She looks better than I do after two kids. Yeah, she's not the "hard-body" she was, but who is after two kids?

I agree - there's no excuse for a poor performance. But lay off the bad body talk!

As I said over at HBMs, I felt so badly that she just didn't et how high the bar was, and that there would be no slack for her. that while she looks pretty good for someone who has had two c-sections in the last couple of years, it's not what she once was, and it's not enough to make people's jaws hit the floor, which is what she needs right now. That while she's obviously worked really hard, she's just not getting it, and her poor judgment of the situation has cost her badly. Poor kid.
