Why I'm Glad That I Work With Men

There are some days where I'm particularly glad that I work primarily with a team of male engineering types without a lot of fashion interest. Like today, when I realized I had arrived in the office wearing black pants and a navy blue jacket. No need to be embarrassed, since no one noticed.

Q would make no such sartorial errors, of course.

I found out the hard way that when you work with men, no one will notice even if your socks are different colors. Oops.

I suppose it's the men in the engineering or software industry but in the retail or sales sector...they will definitely notice with the "metrosexual" men around. Hope all is well with you. Sorry I haven't been around much, so busy around here.

I once did blue skirt, brown shoes. Thank goodness it was an elementary school day. The highschoolers would have eaten me alive.

Ok, I agree that the mismatched shoes would be troublesome, especially if they had different heel heights!

I sort of have the same reaction about my library, actually. Some library staff dresses horribly, and everyone is casual, so it's okay. Plus, at my branch our public is not exactly off the pages of Vogue, though in some cases they dress beautifully in their own style - in a shalwar cameez.

That's awesome! When I taught sixth grade, my collegaue was a guy. I accidentally forgot to exchange my shoes, and ended up wearing flip flops with my sandles to work (it was too cold to take off the socks). He said, "No problem, you're just visiting from the sixties!"

Spot on. Men don't notice these things.
