We made it home with only a two hour delay in the Dallas airport, way better than the 34 hours on the trip out. Weather at ORD slowed our connecting flight (again! I guess that Chicago was just determined to have the last word, after all those pre-Blogher travel complications), and then there were various mechanical issues. It's a grim statement about travel today when passengers are thrilled to have merely a two hour problem. I remember taking shuttle flights like hopping on a bus, expecting to arrive just before a meeting and usually succeeding. It wasn't that long ago.
We took Q to his first day of preschool, and he did pretty well. Really well, after he discovered that they have a toy broom and mop set. Next week will likely be tougher, when the parents don't stay through class, but for now, I can be content that he had a good start.

Clearly it is the Best. Preschool. Ever! It has brooms!
It'll probably be the cleanest, with Q on the job.
Preschool. sniff. He's getting so BIG!
And how was the snack?!
congrats to the kiddo on starting school! let's have a playdate soon. :)
Awesome. It was fake food and teacups for us. And you know, I think having the parents around but not too involved for a couple of days lets them get used to the room and the hubbub with a comfort, and once it is their place, mom leaving didn't seem to be a big deal in our case. I bet it goes just great.
Wow, preschool already. I have to agree with Kimberly, it will be the cleanest place thanks to Q. :-)
I know I'm thinking about it for Ian too, just not in too big a hurry to get him started. I selfishly want to keep him home with me, but I know he would love to be around other little people his age. Yup, I've got to get going on that.
Brooms! Wow, who knew they taught housekeeping in preschool? I wish they'd teach that at ours! :)
Yeah, week 2 is harder. Just a warning. Hopefully it won't be bad at all for you.
Great preschool, obviously! Will they teach him to vacuum, too?
:-)
I can't wait to visit Q's Broom Emporium in about 15 years.
"All right, brooms!" I love it!
Kimberly - ha, the cleanest indeed.
Mayberry - everyone brings their own food and they're not supposed to share, because of food allergies. That takes a little getting used to.
Lara - thanks!
Kittenpie - I spied some fake food there too, so maybe the obsessions will progress.
Mamacita tina - fortunately, it's just a few hours a week
Christina - thanks for the warning. I'm a bit worried, but we'll keep our fingers crossed.
Ewe - he's got a little toy vacuum at home, so he's all prepared!
Karianna - He should be Harry Potter at Halloween, so he can carry a Quidditch broom.
Damselfly - :)
Hot and bothered???
