Perhaps a Future as a Lyricist

Q often chirps a little tune when he stows his toys back into their bins, and I wondered whether it might be from his Mandarin music class. Nanny J and I chatted about it today, and indeed, there is a "So- chi-lai" song for when the children return their instruments to the basket.

She also added, "He's made up his own words to the tune too. Sometimes he sings 'Put A-way' instead." She was quite proud that he could translate and sing it at age two.

Good going, little dude.

P.S. The original word is "lyrist," someone who writes lyrics/words to songs. Somehow in the twentieth century, the extra syllable got added and we all now say "lyricist." Odd.

Raising him bilingual, excellent! Well done, Q!

Sigh, Ian use to be happy when cleaning up toys and sing with me. The duet has gone solo and he runs away.

Good lyricist, I've created lyrics for a few songs too.

That is awesome! I love it when kids take something and run with it like that. Shows creativity and fearless leadership.

Oh, and I dig your liguistics notes, too. :)

I'm just shocked he puts away his toys. If only we could get the hurricane going in that direction.

Ok, the putting-away-of-toys doesn't happen as often as we'd like, so I have to document it when it does!
