Q has started translating for me. The other day, he handed me a bottle of lotion and asked, "Open!"I paused while I thought about whether it would really be a good idea to give a toddler an open bottle of lotion (answer = NOT), and he interpreted the pause as my lack of comprehension. Mama is slow today.
He looked straight into my eyes very deliberately and said, "Kai" (open in Chinese) with exaggerated enunciation. Just in case Mama doesn’t understand English.

This cracked me up. Sometimes, Ian does that, looks at me like I have no clue. And so it begins, wait until they're teenagers!
