Already Earning His Keep

Q woke really early this morning, and I went to liberate him from the crib. He looked a little groggy so I lay down on the couch in his room, wrapped my arms around him, and tried to convince him to doze a little longer. I'm almost always cold in the mornings, so I reached to pull a blanket over us, but Q shrugged it off and burrowed into my chest. It was a blissful and peaceful moment, with his snug warm body pressed against mine, sharing the sweet baby smell.

And I thought, "It's going to be great having him this winter. I have birthed my own portable heat source."

Tacy's the same way - always warm. She kept me pretty warm during pregnancy too - hardly ever wore a winter coat, even in New York.

So sweet. I love those moments and cherish them knowing there will come a day my kids won't want to snuggle. Then I guess I'll have to get a dog.
