Lucinda and MommaK came up with a great idea to allow bloggers to recognize their favorite post for the month. My Perfect Post Award goes to Mary P of It's Not All Mary Poppins! For those of you who don't already know, Mary P cares for a half dozen children in her home daycare and writes amusing anecdotes and beautiful advice on childrearing. I have a collection of her posts carefully bookmarked (Eliminating Whining, Expecting Respect, Handling Tantrums) and hope that she publishes a book someday. I'd buy a copy for every mom and dad I know.
In her Perfect Post, Mary P writes about what every parent hopes for a child – happiness. However, is that really the right goal to have in mind? She argues that it would be better to aim for having your child become a kind, compassionate, and considerate person, and then happiness will be a by-product.
Thanks for the thought-provoking post, Mary P!
